Oracle DBA
The Oracle DBA assists the development, QA and production teams to ensure a good database design, scalable deployments and to provide knowledgeable troubleshooting for Oracle related issues.
Expertise:
- schema design
- scripting: SQL, PL/SQL, Oracle packages, shell
- physical storage: tablespaces, segments
- concurrency: transactions, locking
- performance tuning and troubleshooting
- monitoring
- clustering
- backup
- archiving
- Oracle on windows/linux/solaris
Responsibilities
- Contribute to schema design
- Compile an FAQ to support the QA and production teams in their day-to-day activities
- Create an “Installation best practices” document for the QA and production teams
- Create a backup strategy (doc + scripts)
- Create an archiving strategy (doc + scripts)
- Create scripts to integrate Oracle in automated tests and benchmarks
- Participate in performance benchmarks and suggest improvements
- Design a strategy to proactively validate the health of customer deployments (doc + scripts)
- Create scripts or suggest products for monitoring (space usage, tracing, concurrency)
- Troubleshoot customer issues that cannot be handled by the production team
- Train members of other teams that need to interact with oracle
- Document or “actively” demonstrate the above for team members
- Advise for optimization or avoiding issues for the interaction between the Console and the Oracle Database
